We grow as many of our plants as possible from wild, local seed. Why? Because local genetics are better adapted to our environment, they grow stronger, tougher, and more resilient. By sourcing seed from multiple populations across the region, we maintain genetic diversity, avoid inbreeding, and protect wild populations from outbreeding depression.
