Description
Giant Blue Sage (Salvia azurea grandiflora) is an easy beginner’s choice, deer-resistant, and low-maintenance fall bloomer perennial. It provides crucial nectar to monarchs during their migration and is a host plant to Hermit Sphinx (Lintneria eremitus). The seeds are also browsed on by various birds, and aromatic foliage can be used as a smudge. Blue Sage gets 5 feet tall and prefers medium to dry soil and full to partial sun. For extremely showy displays in the fall, pair with Goldenrod (Solidago) and Asters (Symphyotrichum).
