Description

Grey-headed Coneflower (Ratibida pinnata) provides vibrant yellow droopy flowers during June and July and stands 5 feet tall. It thrives in full sun, average moisture, and can tolerate drier soils in shady areas. It’s a clumping flowering perennial that you can bunch together, plant in mass, or use as a stand-alone highlight. Pairs perfectly with Wild Bergmot (Monarda fistulosa). It’s great at attracting American Bumblebee (Bombus pensylvanicus) and American goldfinch (Spinus tristis). Many miner bees visit, but Coneflower Mining Bee (Andrena rudbeckiae) specializes in this species. This lovely flower is fairly deer-resistant, easy to transplant, and overall beginner-friendly.
